Progress Report

Welcome to NattyTwomp, home of Waltz of the Great Attractor! This Space Age Fantasy Table Top has been in the works for some time now (though this website as it stands is only a few months old). This page will serve as a report as to where the game and website stand, and what our future roadmap looks like.

Waltz Game

Waltz of the Great Attractor as it could be played with Pencil and Paper (without computer).

Completed

  • Core Rules are polished along with the Character Sheet that accommodates them. Very little changes expected here.
  • Both Expanded and Condensed Character Sheets are complete with Ship Sheets, available for download (including the printer friendly White Background Sheets).
  • 10 Being Types available to play.
  • 12 Core Classes with 2 Sub-Classes each reach up the Skill Tree to Tier 12, totaling 600+ available options on the Skill Tree (120 available to play for free, the full 600 available for Early Access to the Galactic Union Guide).
  • Over 400 Shared Skills available, with Entry, Basic, and Intermediate Ranked Shared Skills available for free in Core Rule Book.
  • All existing art thus far (NO AI WILL EVER BE USED FOR ART IN THIS PROJECT).
  • Tier 1 Cybernetics available.
  • Common Armor and armor mods available.
  • Common Weapons and weapon mods available.
  • 27 Star Ship Stats completed on paper (9 available in free content).
  • Free Core Rule Book available for download containing these things is mostly done...

Working On

  • Writing up more common NPC and Enemy stats to put in Free Core Rule Book.
  • 3D Modeling Star Ship Images to accommodate existing stats.
  • Always thinking up ideas and loosely jotting them down in preparation for completing the Skill Tree (currently at 600 nodes, will be at 1200 when done).

Future Goals

  • So much more art needed... Being Type images, Star Ships, Maps, Action Scenes, Weapons and other items. This may take a while because WE WILL NEVER USE AI TO GENERATE ART OR CONTENT FOR THIS PROJECT (though it is used for programming JS for this site).
  • After Skill Tree has all 1200 nodes, more Cybernetics, Being Types, and other content will be created to help round out the Galactic Union Guide, at which time Early Access Pricing will end.

Waltz Website

Development of this website, aimed at making Waltz of the Great Attractor more convenient to play on our online TTRPG platform or just using this site's automated Character Sheets.

Completed

  • Full Account System: Account creation, login, email verification, password reset, friends system, and direct messaging.
  • Game Portal: Create games, invite players, browse public games, and manage sessions through a unified hub.
  • Character System: Fully functional Character Sheets with Free Input and Guided Character Creation, multi-character support, and narrator approval flow.
  • Skill Tree Integration: Interactive Skill Tree fully wired into Character Sheets with narrator-controlled Level Up Points and real progression tracking.
  • Real-Time Multiplayer Engine: WebSocket-powered system using Cloudflare Durable Objects with delta-sync updates (no full reloads, everything updates live).
  • Game Chat + Dice Integration: Real-time chat with dice rolling and full integration into gameplay systems.
  • Combat System: Turn Order wheel, card-based initiative, full Face Card Combat Bonuses, round tracking, and real-time combat sync across all players.
  • Map Engine (Major System): Fully interactive map with zoom, pan, grid system, token movement, HP/OS tracking, object layers (Object / Map / Secret), and narrator tools.
  • Multi-Map Support: Switch between maps, push maps to players, configure grid and backgrounds per map.
  • Damage/Heal System: Apply damage and healing directly from the map with real-time updates to Character Sheets.
  • Narrator Control Systems: Unified control bar for combat, shop, credits, level-ups, sheet management, NPCs, and more.
  • NPC System: Fully functional NPC sheets that interact with the map and game systems in real time.
  • Mid-Game Character Creation: Add new players or characters during an active session without interrupting gameplay.

Working On

  • Map Engine Expansion: Fog of War, improved layer handling, and continued refinement of map interactions.
  • NPC & Sheet Management: Advanced tab grouping, NPC organization tools, and Horde system for multi-enemy encounters.
  • Token-Based Gameplay: Moving more actions directly onto the map (reducing reliance on opening sheets during play).
  • UI/UX Refinement: Smoother transitions between systems (Sheet ↔ Map ↔ Skill Tree) and overall polish.
  • Performance Optimization: Continued improvements for large sessions with many players, maps, and objects.

Future Goals

  • Dynamic Lighting & Advanced Visibility: Per-player vision, stealth mechanics, and environmental lighting.
  • Map Transitions & World Navigation: Seamless movement between maps, floors, and connected areas.
  • Narrative Tools: Comic-style popup panels and storytelling overlays controlled by the narrator.
  • Premium Content Integration: Galactic Union Guide content, account upgrades, and expanded customization options.
  • Account-Level Content: Saved characters, reusable maps, and shared content across games.
  • 🎲 Physical Dice Recognition System: Real-world dice rolls detected through a camera and translated directly into in-game results — bridging physical tabletop play with the online system.
  • Long-Term Vision: A premium TTRPG platform that puts all the tools at the Narrator and Players finger tips to make for the smoothest role playing experiance possible.
